April Month Bible Verse

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble." — Psalm 46:1 (NIV)

Some days, life feels like a relentless storm—news we didn’t expect, a weight we didn’t ask for, a silence from heaven that feels unbearable. In those moments, the instinct is to run—to control, to fix, to grasp for certainty.

But Psalm 46:1 whispers a different invitation: God is our refuge. Not our plans. Not our own strength. Not the illusion of control. Him.

A refuge is a place of safety, but more than that—it’s a place we choose to enter. God doesn’t force His protection on us; He invites us into it. “The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe” (Proverbs 18:10). But we have to run. We have to surrender.

What if, instead of exhausting ourselves trying to hold everything together, we let ourselves be held?

Today, whatever trouble you face, pause. Breathe. Whisper His name. And step into the refuge that has been there all along.

What would it look like to trust God as your refuge today?

Prayer

Father, You are my refuge when my heart is weary, my strength when I have none. But I confess—I so often run elsewhere. To worry. To control. To my own limited wisdom.

Teach me to run to You first. To rest in the safety of Your presence instead of striving for answers. You are my ever-present help—not just when things are calm, but in the middle of the storm. Anchor my heart in this truth today.

When fear rises, remind me: You are near. When doubt creeps in, steady me with Your promises. Help me to trust, to surrender, and to rest in the refuge of Your unfailing love.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
