Today Bible verse is – Luke 7:23
“Blessed is the one who does not stumble on account of me.”
Devotion for April 25, 2025
My dear friends, the Bible tells us that John the Baptist was born for the specific purpose of telling people about the Lord Jesus Christ. His parents, Zechariah and Elizabeth, were childless and elderly, but they lived in obedience to God’s commands. For this reason, God blessed them with John, who would be the herald announcing the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Remember, John the Baptist spent his life in the wilderness, wore camel’s hair clothing, and ate locusts and wild honey so that he could proclaim God’s message. But when trials came upon this righteous man, he questioned God, saying, “Are you the true Messiah who is to come, or should we look for someone else?”
This same pattern happens with believers today. As long as you see great blessings around you, everything seems fine. But as soon as trials come, you begin to doubt God just like John did. Today’s believers, in their trials, feel as though they have purchased God by believing in Him, as if they’ve done God a favor that requires Him to listen and obey them! And this is why obstacles come into their lives.
My dear friends, you might think that if God could free Peter, Paul, and Silas from prison, couldn’t He have freed John as well? Your future depends greatly on your words and actions of faith. Before God, your words and deeds performed in faith during trials can bring you deliverance just as Peter and Paul experienced. If something bad is happening in your life, it doesn’t mean God isn’t good. God is good, and we should always thank Him.
Because God is pleased not by your doubts, but by your faith. Therefore, in your trials, do not doubt like John did, but give thanks and glorify God like Paul and Silas did, so that He can deliver you from your trials and create goodness from every situation to bless you.
Prayer for April 25, 2025
Almighty God, I thank You for this promise. I commit that, like Paul and Silas, I will give thanks and glorify You in my trials so that I may be freed from these trials and become a cause for Your glory. Have mercy on me, in the mighty name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
