Devotion for April 26, 2025
Dear friends, the Bible tells us that David chose five smooth stones from the stream to defeat Goliath and placed them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag before he even faced the giant. When Goliath stood before him, David didn’t use a sword or conventional weapons. He struck Goliath down with one of those stones.
That stone symbolizes the Rock—Jesus Christ.
When Moses was leading the Israelites toward Canaan and they faced a crisis of thirst, God instructed Moses to stand on the rock at Horeb and strike it. Water gushed out, and the people drank. That rock, Scripture says, was Christ—who provided sustenance and walked with them.
This is why God says, if you build your house on the rock, when storms and winds come, your house will not fall.
The Bible warns us that the days are evil. The only person who can withstand the devil’s deception is the one who stays rooted in the Word of God and reads it daily. Your prayers will remain incomplete until you connect with God through His Word. If you’re not reading the Bible, your prayers will lack power and impact.
David knew which stone to use to defeat Goliath. But today, many believers, though they long for healing or deliverance, do not know what God’s Word says about their situation.
That’s why you must stand firm on Jesus Christ—the Rock of our victory. Build your life on the firm foundation of Christ. Read His Word daily and meditate on it during your prayers. That is how God will lift you above every adverse situation, grant you victory, and enable you to be a blessing to others.
Amen.
