Devotion for May 7, 2025
Imagine standing before a mirror, seeing not just your reflection but every flaw, every scar, every moment you fell short. Now picture Jesus stepping in, His cross casting a light that washes it all away—not just for a moment, but forever. Hebrews 10:14 declares a truth that changes everything: by His one sacrifice, you are made perfect. Not almost. Not temporarily. Perfect. Forever.
This isn’t about your performance or your ability to “get it right.” It’s about His finished work. The Greek word here for “perfect” (teleioō) means complete, brought to the goal. Through Christ’s blood, God sees you as whole, righteous, fully His. Yet, the verse also says you’re “being made holy.” That’s the journey—God’s Spirit shaping you daily, chiseling away what doesn’t belong, aligning your life with the perfection already secured.
Think of a potter with a flawless design in mind. The clay doesn’t earn its beauty; it yields to the potter’s hands. You are that clay. Every struggle, every surrender, every step of faith is God molding you into the holy image He’s already declared you to be. When you stumble, you’re not falling from grace—you’re growing in it. When you feel unworthy, you’re not undone—you’re already perfected in His eyes.
So, stand firm today. Stop striving to earn what Christ has given. Rest in the truth that you are complete in Him, even as He works in you. Let this promise anchor your soul: the One who made you perfect is faithfully making you holy. Trust His hands. Yield to His process. You are His masterpiece, and He’s not finished yet.
Prayer for May 7, 2025
Father, thank You for the perfect, finished work of Jesus on the cross. I stand in awe that You see me as complete, forever righteous in Your sight. Help me rest in this truth when doubts arise. Shape me, Holy Spirit, into the holy person You’re calling me to be. Let my life reflect Your glory as I trust Your process. Guide my steps, renew my heart, and fill me with courage to walk in the perfection You’ve given. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
