“Then Jesus said to her, ‘Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.’ And her daughter was healed at that moment.”
Devotion for April 27, 2025
Dear friends, the Bible tells us about a Canaanite woman who came to Jesus, even though she wasn’t a Jew. She said, “Lord, my daughter is suffering terribly. She is demon-possessed, her body becomes rigid, she convulses—please heal her.”
But Jesus replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.” Now, that response could have crushed her. If pride had taken over, she might have walked away thinking, “How could He speak to me like that just because I’m from another race? Why should I follow Him any further?”
Yet, the woman was surrounded on one side by the devil and on the other side by what looked like divine rejection. But she didn’t give up. She pleaded, “Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.” She accepted that label—not because she believed she was inferior, but because she was desperate for her daughter’s healing.
Jesus then said, “Because of what you said, your daughter is healed.” Friends, this was a second step—because rest wasn’t enough.
This woman didn’t find rest until she took a step of faith. I’ve seen again and again that the one who receives healing and deliverance in God’s Kingdom is the one who remembers: just one more step can change everything.
People say, “I’ve been prayed over many times, but nothing changed.” That’s because the conversation isn’t the healing—obedience and faith are. You may come to church and see people healed, but wonder why nothing is happening for you. Perhaps God is working, but He’s waiting on your next step.
God may be asking you to take one more step—to come closer, to fast more, or to walk in greater holiness. He’s drawing you, calling you to trust Him once again so that He can work in your life.
So take that next step—He’s waiting for you.
Prayer for April 27, 2025
Almighty God, I thank You for this Word. I pray, knowing that You are the living God and that apart from You, there is no deliverance. Lord, I take one more step of faith. I take one more step of fasting. Deliver me, Lord. Set me free, in the powerful name of Jesus Christ. Amen
