Verse of the day june 12, 2025 — Hebrews 12:1
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”
Devotional Thought For Today
There are many people today who are weary—tired of running, tired of failing, tired of carrying the burdens of life. But the Bible says we are in a race—not a sprint, but a lifelong journey of faith. And the only way to finish well is to lay aside the sin that clings to us, and the distractions that slow us down.
The writer of Hebrews reminds us that we are not alone. There are witnesses—those who have gone before us, men and women of faith—who are cheering us on from heaven’s grandstands. They faced trials, they knew weakness, but they trusted God, and He was faithful to bring them through.
And He will bring you through.
You see, dear friend, you cannot run this race if you are weighed down by guilt, bitterness, or pride. These are not light loads—they are chains. But the good news of the Gospel is this: Jesus Christ came to break those chains. He bore your sin on the cross, and through Him, you can run in freedom.
Will you give Him your burdens today? Will you lay aside the sin that holds you back and fix your eyes on Jesus?
There’s a finish line ahead. And there’s joy waiting for those who endure.
Prayer for June 12, 2025
Heavenly Father, I confess I have tried to run this race on my own—and I’ve stumbled. Forgive me for holding on to the things You died to set me free from. Today, I turn my eyes toward Jesus. Give me strength to endure. Help me throw off the sin that weighs me down and follow the path You have set before me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
