Heavenly Father,
Thank You for waking me into this new day. I don’t take the breath in my lungs lightly—it’s mercy. It’s grace. It’s the kind of gift You give without waiting for my performance to deserve it. You’ve carried me through moments when joy seemed like a distant memory, and yet today, You invite me again to hope. Thank You for not being like me—fickle or forgetful—but instead, unwavering in Your nearness.
Your Word today—Romans 12:12—reads more like an invitation than a command. “Be joyful in hope.” It sounds simple, but You know how hard that can be when the world frays at the edges of my heart. Still, I want it. I want the kind of hope that laughs before the answer comes. I want patience—not the kind that just grits its teeth, but the kind that knows affliction doesn’t mean absence. And I want to be faithful in prayer—not just when it’s quiet, but especially when it’s not.
Holy Spirit, fill me with that kind of resolve today. Remind me that joy isn’t an escape from reality—it’s my response to the deeper reality of Your goodness. Help me sit in affliction without flinching, not because I’m strong, but because You are. Pull my heart back to prayer—real, raw, unscripted prayer—when I’m tempted to numb out or rush ahead.
I trust You with what I can’t see and what I can barely carry. I trust You with today. Not because I’ve figured it all out, but because You’ve never once let me down. So, here I am again—hands open, heart steadying, spirit willing. I walk forward in joy, in patience, in prayer.
