There comes a moment when the phone call doesn’t come, the plan falls through, or the person you counted on lets you down. It hits hard—not just because things didn’t work out, but because deep down, you trusted them to be your safety net.
Psalm 118:8 sits quietly in the center of the Bible, but its message couldn’t be louder: don’t build your life on shaky ground. Even the kindest humans are still human—flawed, finite, and sometimes unreliable. But God? He is never anything less than faithful.
The psalmist doesn’t say it’s wrong to trust people—it says it’s better to take refuge in the Lord. Why? Because His love never wavers. His strength never fades. He doesn’t ghost you when you’re messy or back out when things get complicated. His promises hold up under pressure.
Maybe today, you’re feeling the sting of someone’s failure. Or maybe you’ve been leaning too hard on someone who can’t carry what only God can. This verse is your reset. It’s not just advice—it’s an invitation. Run to the One who won’t let you fall.
Taking refuge in the Lord doesn’t mean isolating yourself. It means anchoring your soul in Someone unshakable, even while you walk among the uncertain. It’s saying, “God, before I lean on anyone else—I’m leaning on You.”
Let today be the day you shift your trust from the fragile to the faithful. Run to your refuge. He’s already waiting.
Prayer for May 10, 2025
Lord, I’ve trusted in people and plans that couldn’t hold me. But You never fail. Help me to take refuge in You first—not as a last resort, but as my daily default. Teach me to lean on Your strength, not human approval. Be my anchor today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
