“About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.”
Devotion for May 25, 2025
When the night gets loud with pain and uncertainty, when the walls close in and the lights go out, what does your soul reach for?
Paul and Silas had been beaten and locked in a dungeon for doing good. No trial. No comfort. Just cold chains and the echo of injustice. But instead of spiraling into despair, they lifted their voices in praise. At midnight—the darkest hour—they chose worship over worry.
This wasn’t just resilience. It was warfare.
When your back is against the wall and your prayers seem to bounce off steel ceilings, you have a choice: drown in silence, or sing into the storm. Praise in the dark isn’t about pretending everything is fine. It’s about declaring that God is still worthy, even here. Especially here.
And the prisoners were listening.
Don’t miss that. Your midnight song might not just set you free—it might be the sound that unlocks chains for someone else. When you worship in suffering, heaven leans in. Earth shakes. Prison doors open. Not always in the natural—but always in the heart.
You don’t have to wait for daylight to worship. The power is in what you do before the rescue comes.
So whatever you’re facing right now—grief, fear, betrayal, waiting—don’t waste the midnight. Pray. Sing. Lift your soul to the One who breaks chains with soundwaves of praise. You may be in a prison, but your spirit is not bound.
Let your praise be louder than your pain. Midnight is the perfect time for a miracle.
Prayer for May 25, 2025
Lord, even when I feel surrounded by darkness, teach me to lift my voice in praise. Let my worship rise above the weight of my circumstances. Break every chain that holds me captive—fear, doubt, despair—and use my song to bring freedom to others. You are worthy at midnight and at morning. In Jesus’ name, amen.
