Every human relationship you have comes with a set of unspoken rules.
People love you when you meet their expectations.
They love you when you are convenient, successful, or pleasant to be around.
This is not because people are malicious.
It is because human love has limits.
You have likely felt the weight of trying to keep up with those limits.
You try to perform well at work to keep your boss happy.
You try to say the right things to keep your friends close.
You try to look a certain way to feel accepted.
It is exhausting because you know that if you fail, the love might change.
Jesus does not love you based on your performance.
His love does not depend on how well you behave or how much you achieve.
The historical reality of the cross proves this.
Before you ever tried to live a good life, Jesus chose you.
The apostle Paul wrote about this exact timing in his letter to the Romans.
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 (KJV)
Notice when that death happened.
It did not happen after you cleaned up your life.
It did not happen when you finally figured out how to pray or when you started going to church.
It happened while you were still running away from Him.
This is a love that does not wait for you to become worthy.
Jesus looked at your entire life, including your worst mistakes, and decided you were worth dying for.
You will never find a human being who can offer you that kind of security.
Even the people who love you most in this world will eventually let you down.
They will misunderstand you, get tired, or run out of patience.
They cannot help it because they are human.
But Jesus never runs out of patience.
His love is not a reaction to your goodness.
His love is the direct result of His character.
He cannot love you any less than He does right now because His love is perfect.
In the gospel of John, Jesus explained the ultimate standard of love.
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13 (KJV)
He did not just say these words to sound poetic.
He went to the cross to show you what those words mean.
He took the punishment you deserved so you could have the relationship you did not earn.
When you realize this, it changes how you face your daily struggles.
You no longer have to spend your life searching for validation.
You do not have to beg people to see your worth.
You do not have to use your energy to prove you deserve to be loved.
Jesus has already settled the question of your value.
You are loved completely, permanently, and without reservation.

1. Stop looking for human relationships to give you the validation only Jesus can provide.
When you feel rejected by someone, remind yourself that their opinion does not change your true value.
2. Use your prayer time to thank Jesus for His love instead of just asking Him to change your circumstances.
Acknowledge the sacrifice He made for you on the cross.
3. Quit trying to earn His approval through religious performance.
Accept that His love is a gift you cannot buy and can never lose.
